Module Description
First Testament survey:
Rational: The First Testament is also called “Old Testament,” or “Hebrew Bible.” it includes 39 books divided in five division Law History, Prophecy Former and Latter, Poetry. The survey of the First Testament will enable the learner to engage with key areas of theology and history in the Hebrew bible
Lesson Aims:. This lesson aims at:
- Stimulating an in depth understanding of the themes, motifs, content within each book also
- To increase awareness of the theological content and literary genre of the characters and style of writing of each book.
- Will enable each learner to be conversant with authorship and purpose of each books of the First Testament.
Learning Outcome: At the end of this session the learner will be able to:
- Identify the main point of doctrinal themes and motifs of each book.
- To analyse the key aspects of the book.
- To explain the content and structure of the books of the First Testament
- To Summarize the central themes and content of the First Testament
Syllabus: Will look at the Pentateuch and authorship, Deuteronomsitic historian and its content. The Poetical books and the megaloth style of literary genre, parallelism.

Second Testament Survey
The purpose of studying the Second Testament or “New Testament,” or “Greek Scriptures,” to encounter the Second Testament with fresh eyes to enable the learner to engage with the details and content of each book and to be able to confront with the theological issues and historical geographical background to the books of the Second Testament.
Lesson Aims:
- To engage learners to possess an in-depth understanding of the Second Testament book and content
- To analyses the important aspects of key themes within each book.
- Evaluate the validity and reliability of the themes and content and authorship of each books
- To increase awareness of the key characters and theological notions

- To summarize the content of the First Testament
- To identify the major pointers highlighted in the context of each book.
- Assess the importance of each book and how they are interlinked

Hermeneutics
Rational: The subject of Hermeneutics will enable the learner to think about the diverse approaches to interpretation. As a disciple the learner will engage with the subject of the art and science of interpretation and to critically examine their own practice and approaches to interpretation.

- 2. To improve skills in interpretation of sacred Biblical text
- 3. To stimulate an in-depth understanding of interpretative tools.

Homiletics
Rational: This subject engages learners to approach a fresh method to Biblical preaching. Homiletics purpose is to look at the science and art of practice and delivery. Learners will be given opportunity to revisit their own practices and approaches to preaching.

- 1. To develop an in depth understanding of the development and practices of preaching.
- 2. To stimulate an in-depth understanding of how to deliver a sermon
- 3. To highlight key aspects of preaching methods

Church History
Rationale: The learner will be looking at the development and spread of the early church. The learner will be engaging with core and secondary text, looking at the early church Fathers and Pre and Post Reformation and beyond

- 1. To develop awareness of the history of the Church form Pentecost to the Reformation
- 2. To encourage an in depth understanding of the peoples and place of the early church
- 3. To cultivate a foundational approach to the Church Fathers

Christian Doctrine
Rational: To understand the diverse approaches to Christian doctrine, to be able to critically engage with the issue of theological doctrines to highlight the major doctrine themes.
